I want to read more. I'm sure many of you relate to the feeling. There are just so many good books out there, both contemporary and historical. My “Want to Read” list on Goodreads is ever growing, and I have far too many reading plans started in Logos that have yet to be finished. I want to read more, but there never seems to be enough time.
In an effort to work through more books, I came up with a new travel ritual. Whenever I travel, I will select one of my smaller books (around or less than 100 pages) to bring along and complete on the trip. Of course, this will depend on the purpose of the trip, how I'm traveling, how long I'll be gone, etc. But I think this new ritual will be beneficial for a few reasons.
It will help me work through the books I have collected over the years.
Bringing a physical book along will help keep me grounded during my trip.
Having a book to read can help take up downtime.
It will force me to sit down and just read.
Prioritizing one book will help with all the distractions that can pop up.
It will give me more content to write here.
Time spent on the road or in the air can be used to meditate on what I'm reading.
I came up with this idea because of some upcoming trips my wife and I are going on this summer. For this first trip, I have selected Impossible Chrisitanity by Kevin DeYoung as my book to bring along.
This is a book I have been meaning to read for a while, as it discusses several topics that have been on my mind lately. After the trip, I plan to write a review of both this book and my new travel ritual.
Stay tuned!

P.S. This is the first post I've written using the mobile app, and I'm pretty impressed. If you have a desire to write and publish your material, I highly recommend looking into Substack for yourself.
