A Mysterious Fellowship
The mystery of Christ revealed
This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
Ephesians 3:6 (ESV)
Paul, unashamed of his imprisonment for the sake of the gospel, now explains his role in God’s cosmic work of reconciliation, especially in the revelation of the mystery of Christ to the Gentiles (Ephesians 3:1-7).
By God’s grace, Paul was made a minister of the gospel (v. 7) to the Gentiles (v. 2). God made known to Paul that which was formerly a mystery, but has now been made clear by the apostles and prophets of the Spirit (vv. 3-5).
This mystery contains beautiful truths for the Gentile believers. These individuals have peace with God and others as explained in Ephesians 2. They are now also fellow-heirs,1 fellow members of one body,2 and fellow-sharers of the promises about Christ.3
The good news of the gospel is the basis for this new fellowship. God’s grace can make us new and bring peace with him and others.
If you are a believer, if you have placed your faith in Christ for salvation from your sins, praise God for that! You are now a member of the body of Christ, so seek fellowship and unity with other believers!
If you are not a believer, if you have not placed your faith in Christ for salvation from your sins, do so today! God loved you enough to send his Son to die on a cross for your sins. The wrong things that separate you from God can be removed. It’s not because of any work that you do, but because of God’s grace that you can be saved from sin (Eph. 2:1-10). Trust God for your salvation!
